Jessica Hentoff & The Magic of Circus Harmony

Circuses are an ancient part of all cultures. Traditionally, communities forget their problems and divisions and all gather when a circus comes to town, to laugh, be wowed and have a good time. Social circuses take this aspect to a new level as they create harmony within their own ranks by consciously recruiting artists from varied backgrounds including poor and so-called “difficult teenagers”. Meet Jessica Hentoff, a passionate woman from New York City now living in St. Louis, MO who created a youth circus, "Circus Harmony" now hosted by the truly unique City Museum of St. Louis. Its incredible artists are children from all ages, social and ethnic backgrounds, who don’t only bloom and develop skills (including relationship skills) well beyond their peers; they also share joy and... harmony in divided places where hatred and racism are prevalent. For lack of time, this video doesn't mention for instance that twice already the circus performed in Israel, including during a recent conflict in the Occupied Territories.
