Fruit is a bountiful miracle, whether you speak of God or Nature. Nevertheless, in the U.S. alone, thousands of pounds of fruit of all kinds fall to the ground every day, only to be tossed in the trash as garbage. When so many go hungry or desperately need to eat more healthfully, this is a painful irony that didn’t go unnoticed by two women in Bellingham, WA. Claudia Sampson and Tee King were commiserating one day about the ills of our world, and seeking ways they could help. They came up with the idea of creating so-called "Grandma's Ribbons" - handmade "ribbons" that anybody could get for free at their local gardening store and tie around their front yard trees as a way to let neighbors or passers-by know they could help themselves.
